Today I got a wonderful phone call! So excited to share Leigh Miller Photography has been named both a bride and editor’s pick for Best of the Knot 2011 Kansas City. I am so thankful to all my wonderful couples and the staff at The Knot for their support. So many great things are happening both professionally and personally and I am so thankful. I cannot wait for 2011. Wishing you all a wonderful new year!

I’ve been so bad at sharing magazines publications that I thought I’d just throw some of this past years out in one post. So here you go. Congrats to all my great couples who were featured all across the country and world and thank you to the magazines who support my work! I’m so thankful.

Congrats to Sarah and Mike their beautiful Eucalyptus Lane wedding is featured in the Spring 2009 issue of Los Angeles Weddings Magazine. Be sure and pick up a copy to see the entire feature and read all about Sarah and Mike . Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings styled this amazing event. I can’t wait to work with Rebecca again later this year! Thank you LA Weddings you have a lovely magazine and I’m thrilled to be featured.

and a great big thank you to The Knot. Lindsay and Hank’s Cabo San Lucas wedding is featured in the Spring/Summer edition of The Knot national magazine! This is pretty exciting news as this issue will be sold all over the country and on bookstore shelves through July. Pick one up if you have a chance!

A few weeks ago I got a call from my good friend (and former bride) Erin Cole about shooting some salon shots for her. I was thrilled. Erin is always a blast to work with and I just heart her and her work so much! Her jewelry line is out of this world. I was also excited about seeing some of the shots I did for her ad campaign last year blown up and hanging on the walls.
So we settled on a date when the amazing Judd Waddell would be having his trunk show in the salon. I personally had never been to a trunk show and was excited to see what exactly went on. What a treat for the brides who had appointments that day! Can you imagine having the designer of your gown in the store while you’re trying it on and HE is going to fit you? For one bride he even combined two designs right there on the spot, and brides who purchased one of Judd’s gowns that day received a sketch of their gown autographed by Judd. I think that is pretty wonderful. It is also funny because my knowledge of designers in the fashion industry is pretty much limited to Project Runway. With all the drama and egos. Judd is so down to earth, such a nice guy. As an artist it was fun for me to watch his reaction as the gals put on his gowns. You could tell he was genuinely interested in every bride that came through that door. So between Judd and the amazing gals at Erin Cole, it was a real treat for everyone. I think you can tell from the photos and the note from a past client, Erin and her staff are all about making your wedding gown experience exceptional on all levels. It was all I could do to not just rip off my clothes and start trying on gowns too – haha! So here are some photos from the day. This Friday and Saturday one of the designers from Rivini will be at Erin Cole and you can check out Judd’s website to see where he will be for the rest of the year. Have a great day everyone!

This next series is my favorite.

and an even bigger thank you to Emily of Once Wed and Elizabeth of Elizabeth Anne Designs for featuring another wedding. Both of these blogs are great resources if you’re planning a wedding. I wish they would have been around when I was getting married. And just in case you missed it here’s a link to the original post from Erin & Michael’s wedding and the ad shoot I did for Erin Cole. Also be sure and check out Mimi’s blog. She was the coordinator behind Erin and Michael’s wedding and a bride of mine!

because of what it means. It means that the Foundation Workshop is over and I’ve got to move on. But hopefully I will carry with me what I learned that week and all the great people who were there. Here are the great team members who helped me along my journey. They are all awesome and talented people! Go check out their work, you will be amazed.

I also want to thank the lovely people at the Allen Senior Center for letting me tag along and bug the heck out of them for a few days. The members and staff were just wonderful in making me feel welcome. I hope my slideshow does them justice.
Here’s my final slideshow as presented on the last night. And of course a photo cause without it this post would look naked :0 If you are a photographer and on the fence about this workshop, jump off that fence and run as fast as you can to sign up!!!

yep that’s right, by one of my favorite photographers in the world. But more on that in a minute.
Last week I had the privilege to be a part of the FW6 – the Foundation Workshop. I really can’t put into words what an amazing experience it was. The premise of Foundation is to improving storytelling/photojournalism skills – the brain child of Huy Nguyen. Photographers from all over the world are there and we each get assigned a story that we go out and shoot. For two days we are emersed in the story and presenting our images to our teams and team leaders. We get an amazing critique on how we are doing and how to improve. The end product is the slideshow we present but this workshop is about the journey, not the end. And it’s about the people too. The photographers present and the subjects. I have made friends for life at Foundation.
I haven’t even had time since returning to blog the images but one of my favorite photographers on the planet put some images on her blog, including a few of mine. Anna Kuperberg was on staff at FW6 and she has been an inspiration to me since I found her website in 2004 when I was just getting my feet wet in photography. Be sure and go to her blog if you want to take a look at what she posted. And stay there for a while if you want to see some inspiring photography!
And if you want to see more pics from the workshop be sure and check out the Foundation’s website and blog.
I will be posting more about this late including links to all my teammates. I’m missing all of them and craving Thai food!!! Who knew?!?
One more pic from my assignment – the Senior Recreation Center of Allen Texas. More coming soon…
