I’m so excited to be posting Part II of Scotia and Juan’s beautiful Rancho Las Lomas wedding (here’s a link to Part I).  Scotia and Juan were a referral from another awesome couple Jana and Juan (pictured below) and from the time I met with them to talk about their wedding and then shot their engagement photos, I new they had something special.  And I knew their wedding was going to be special too.  They thought of everything!  From the wonderful location to the amazing extras like a photobooth and a cigar roller these two made sure their friends and family would have a great time.  And I think you can tell they did.  And check out Scotia’s extra sassy Monique L’huiller gown she had altered to make into a mini for the South Beach style after hours party.  What a great idea!!! (Sorry all you ladies who are campaigning for 2 dresses, but I’m a practical gal at heart.)

Before I sign off of this post I want to give a shout out to some of the spectacular vendors involved in the wedding.  First of course Kevin Covey who designed the event.  I can’t wait to work with Kevin and his great team later this year at Mary and Andy’s wedding!  Square Root designed the florals.  WOW is all I can say about the wonderful job they did!  And last but definately not least one of my favorite video teams ever,  Layer Cake Films, did an amazing job all day long and were so easy to work with.  Michelle was shooting super 8 and I can’t wait to see the footage from the wedding.  I heart super 8 and the Layer Cake Films team.  Thank you again Scotia and Juan for letting me be a part of your wedding day!  Enjoy!!!

Back home…

August 25, 2008

Thank you to everyone who has sent emails and pms regarding the death of my grandfather.  For those of you who don’t know he passed away last week while I was on vacation.  I was fortunate enough to get to spend a little time with him on Sunday and for that I’m forever thankful.  it was a rough week for the entire family but at least we were all there together.

My grandpa was such an awesome man who spent most of his life providing for and taking care of his family.  That was his #1 priority I’d say.  He grew up in a poor home in Mississippi and when he was 14 started taking the train to Memphis to find work while living in a boarding house and sending the money he earned back home to his mom, brothers and sister.  That’s so astounding to me to think of my 14 year old Chris having to do that but times were different back then.  He lied about his age to join the Navy before graduating from high school and when the war was over went back to Memphis and started what would be a very successful contracting company.  For someone so active and hardworking, Alzheimer’s was probably about the worst disease to get.  I know he’s in a better place now.  So here’s one of the oldest pics I have of my mom and grandpa.  Really brings home the importance of photography doesn’t it.  Just thought I’d share, thanks for reading.

This post may be short on words but it’s going to be long on photos!  As I rush to get ready for our family vacation I’m trying to get a little something up for everyone.

You may remember Lindsay and Hank from their engagement session  earlier this year in San Francisco.  It is really one of my favorites.  As an interior designer Lindsay has such great style, I have been anxiously waiting to see what the wedding would be like.  Needless to say, it was elegant and classic.  Lindsay and Hank’s wedding was at Casa Del Mar in Cabo San Lucas.  It was a gorgeous day and this group was so fun (wait ’til you get to the bottom of this post!).  This wedding was totally about friends (with a wedding party of about 23!), family and celebrating.  Just what I think a wedding should be about.  Lindsay looked amazing in her vintage gown and Hank was dashing as well.  So without further delay, here is a great big preview of their wedding day.  Congrats again guys!  Thanks for having me!

Thank you to Katie Thompson of Weddings in Paradise for referring Lindsay and Hank to me and for doing such a fabulous job! And an additional great big thanks to my good friend and awesome photographer Riccis Valladares for shooting with me!  I think we have a few more weddings left this year.  Can’t wait!  I wonder….who’s going to be buying the sushi???

BTW, a few of the bridesmaids were wearing the most gorgeous jewelry made by Judi McCormick.  If you’re looking for custom jewelry for your wedding party you should check her out.  I’m always excited when I find good things (wow, I sound like Martha Stewart!)

I’m finally home for a full 7 days straight and am ready to get all caught up on my blogging!  To kick things off here are some pics from Stephanie and Tudor’s beautiful wedding at the Pasadena City Hall.  First of all what a gorgeous location!  And second of all what a gorgeous couple.  I met Stephanie and Tudor for the first time on the wedding day and they were both so laid back and full of happiness.  Such a pleasure to be around.  And what a great group of friends who hit the dance floor and made it a great party.  So here is a small preview from Stephanie and Tudor’s wonderful wedding celebration.  Thank you guys so much for letting me be a part of it.  I hope you had a wonderful time in Hawaii!
