Nicole and Alex got married at the Prado in beautiful Balboa Park.  I love weddings at the Prado for a few reasons.  One its so close to my house!  And two the Prado is one of my favorite restaurants in all of San Diego.  But I really wouldn’t have cared where Nicole and Alex decided to get married,  I was just excited to be a part of their wedding day.  It was such a beautiful wedding full of personal touches.  Nicole looked absolutely amazing in her Melissa Sweet dress and her totally cute JCrew orange shoes.  And Alex was quite dashing too!  Very Brad Pitt like ;)

Congrats guys!  It’s been so fun getting to know you and being a part of your wedding day.  On to the preview…

ps - Oh and if you’re wondering, yes that is the 45mm TSE lens. And yes, I’m going to have to get one of my own now!

Heaven on earth…

April 23, 2008

Last year I was so fortunate to photograph Elizabeth and Ben’s wedding at Las Ventanas in Cabo. If you’ve been around the blog for a while you may remember I was totally smitten with the resort. I so didn’t want to leave that place and came home feeling just like those commercials where after vacation you’re wondering where your turn down service, fresh flowers and butler are!!! Yes, I returned a total diva. So when I heard Rosewood was opening a resort in the Riviera Maya area, Rosewood Mayakoba, I knew the next time I went I had to go check it out. And I wasn’t disappointed! The Rosewood resorts are the ultimate example of superb customer service and branding. I wasn’t even staying at the resort this time yet two of the resorts employees took time out of their busy day to show me around and even showed me suite and gave me a boat tour of the property. Tulio and Fernando are awesome!!! This place knows how to treat their clients and their potential clients! Since I know couples are often looking online for great wedding venues I thought I would post my experience spending 1/2 the day at the resort and some photos. Although I didn’t stay there (this time!) it was a great experience.  I’m already planning my getaway!  Maybe a long weekend with my wonderful husband after the wedding season is over.  Who knows, maybe I will even get to shoot a wedding there one day.

Here are links to some pics from Las Ventanas in Cabo - Elizabeth and Ben’s welcome dinner, Elizabeth and Ben’s Wedding Day, and Elizabeth and Ben’s Day After.  And below photos from the equally beautiful Rosewood Mayakoba…

Now that I’m home…

April 22, 2008

safe and sound, I thought I’d share!  Last week I traveled to beautiful Riviera Maya for Rebecca and Eric’s wedding.  The night before I left my hubby and I were sitting on the sofa and here’s how the conversation went -

the hubby - you want to hear your horoscope? what are you sagittarius?

me - no scorpio.

the hubby - you want to hear it?

me - not if it says my plane is going down, i’m flying tomorrow.

the hubby - laughing hysterically.

me - what!?! what!?!

the hubby - i swear i didn’t know it was going to say this!

me - oh **** (insert expletive of choice here) just read it…

the hubby - ok here’s what it says…by the time rescue workers reach you this week, not only will you have eaten all your fellow passengers, but moved on to the food they brought along as well. (continued hysterical laughing here followed by…) you want to be sagittarius instead?
So I decided to go anyway…looked like I was going to make it no matter what.  I was feeling kind of bad for the fate of my fellow passengers ;)  And since it would be a shame to write a post without a photo, here’s one from Rebecca and Eric’s day after shoot in our shhhh…SUPER SECRET Riveria Maya location!  More coming soon.

Nari and Wyatt might just be the most famous couple to ever grace the pages of the Leigh Miller Photography blog! I think they are the most blogged couple anyway. And that’s pretty ironic considering Wyatt was literally sick at the thought of being photographed!  I guess it all happened because I wanted to get some photobooth pics up as quick as possible because they were so fun and then get some detail pics to their awesome wedding coordinator Angel.  And of course initially I blogged one photo that I loved from the dirty mattress room.  Oh and then there was the engagement!  Anyway…here are some more pics from their wonderful wedding day. Some more of my favorites :)  The wedding took place at Villa Del Sol O’ro in Sierre Madre. Nari looked absolutely stunning and the rain held off until after the ceremony. But boy after that did it ever rain. Rain, thunder, lighting, hail. This wedding had it all!!! Lots of love and fun too.  Congrats you two!!!

I thought since I’m about to depart on my second destination wedding of the year I should probably backtrack and blog my first destination wedding of the year from back in January at Las Caletas near Puerto Vallarta.  You may remember this location from Ann and Paul’s wedding last year.  (Yes i have a number of weddings to blog from the past few months but hang in there, they are on their way!)  Before that though one quick housekeeping note.  I will be out of the studio Wednesday afternoon through Monday evening and have limited access to email and phone.  All emails and phone calls will be returned Tuesday.  Also my comments were not working for about 10 days.  Apparently something got into my system and corrupted it.  I’m very sad to say all comments before last week were pretty much lost :(  But feel free to leave one now!

Katie and Marcus are such an awesome couple and they have such a unique story. Katie and Marcus met because Katie’s sister is married to Marcus’ brother. Yep you read that right! How cool is that. Their wedding night was filled with funny stories about their history and how and WHEN they actually became an item. I usually don’t blog family photos but I did this time. The first one is with Katie’s parents and family and the second one is with Marcus parents and family.  I don’t have any sisters for my husband’s brother to marry (and all my brothers are taken too!) but doesn’t that just sound like the funnest thing.  It was such a touching evening with these two families getting together for the second time to celebrate a wedding tying them even closer together.  So here are a few pics and guess what, a slideshow!  If this one doesn’t bring tears to your eyes I just don’t know what will!
