and boy am I wiped out!!! It was a great week. I had a chance to meet up with some friends and make a ton of new ones. Hit some parties and some seminars. I had mentoring sessions with two of my favorite photographers - Anna Kuperberg and Jose Villa. Both were tremendously generous and helped me fine tune the photos for my new website and had great advice for helping me stay on track in the next year and stay true to myself and my style of shooting. I can’t wait for my next wedding - April 14th :)
I had a number of shoots lined up while I was in Vegas but things fell through so a few of us, including my roomie Miranda Lievers, put together a last minute shoot in the desert with Denisse, our “bride” for the day. It was awesome and I want to give a big thank you to Erik Dungan for tracking down a model and driving us all out there! Eric is a photographer AND the owner of Big Folio, websites for photographers!
It was a blast shooting out there in the dust and wind and cold - haha! No really it was fun, I love the pics I got and can’t wait to do my next bridal/day after/trash the dress with a real bride. Anyone? Anyone? Cause I know you real brides and grooms could totally look this great! So who wants to do this?
That’s right me and about a bazillion other photographers will decend on vegas this week for a great big convention! There will be lots of learning, shooting, socializing and probably a little key lime martini drinking ;) I will be checking my email as time allows and back in the studio on April 1st. I’m so excited! Today Rhea and Tim’s wedding was featured on the fabulous wedding planning site - the Wedding Bee. You have to go there and check out their amazing story and watch their video. Melissa and Brian had the most beautiful wedding on St. Patrick’s Day! Everything was planned and carried off perfectly. What I love about Melissa and Brian is that they have so much energy and enthusiasm! You can tell they love each other so much. Everyone was happy just being around them.
The ceremony was at Grace Lutheran Church and the reception at the fabulous Prado in Balboa Park. The wedding was actually pretty late in the day but that made for some fun playing around with the bride and groom photos, some almost in the dark. I want to thank April and Nate who hired me to shoot their wedding last year in Riviera Maya where I captured this award winning image that placed in the latest Artist Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist contest. The image took 9th place in the details category. It’s funny because the first time I found out I placed in one of these contests was when I was in Riviera Maya shooting this wedding!
