last wedding of the year for me! I can’t believe it. I felt so honored to shoot Annaliese and David wedding. David is a photojournalist with the army and is set for deployment at the beginning of the year. He and Annaliese found me through the Wedding Photojournalist Association. Weddings by design are emotional days but I could tell this one was a little different. Despite some adverse conditions – namely the weather – things went off splendidly. The ceremony and reception were at the California Citrus State Park in Riverside. Unfortunately it was windy, cold and there was a dust storm blowing so the ceremony had to be moved inside. But both Annaliese and David took things in stride and it was a beautiful wedding nonetheless. Congratulations to you both. David I can’t wait to see some of your PJ work from Korea. Take care! Talk to you both soon :)
The beautiful lanterns.

This is my favorite cake from the entire year. Annaliese’s matron of honor made this! I love the beautiful piping on the chocolate birds.
Annaliese waits patiently in the car.

While David waits patiently for things to get started.

Annaliese and her Dad, the happiest dad in the world.

I love this moment when the groom takes his brides hand for the first time.

Hard to tell here but it was so windy and we were being pelted by these berries about the size of holly berries. Felt like being shot with a BB gun. But Annaliese and David were troopers :)

All the lovely gals.

You know I love the first dance.

A few laughs during the toasts.

And a very emotional toast to the couple from one of David’s groomsmen.

Cheers!

Annaliese and Dad.

Cake cutting part 1.

And part 2.

There was some serious competition during the bouquet toss.

This cute little guy was waiting to dance with the bride.

And this guy was trying to steal the loot during the money dance.

Thriller zombie bridesmaids.

The man with all the moves.

And they are outta there.

As always a terrific set of images that have captured REAL moments. I love your work and will keep following this blog so that I continue to be inspired. Thank you!

Beautiful photos Leigh! You are truly talented. This couple was so lucky to have you document their big day! (My fav. shot is the one w/the lanterns in the foreground – cool!)

Leigh,
It’s David. Just checking out the photos again. Will love them forever.
One question: What gear do you use while shooting? I know Canon, but what camera(s) and lenses and filters? What are you using for post production?
Thanks,
David

hey david – glad to hear you made it safely over to korea. for those of you who dont know, david is going to be stationed in korea for about the next year or so as a photojournalist for the army. i am beside myself with :) that you love the pics david!!! talk about pressure – shooting a pjs wedding.
david i use canon 20 & 30ds. will be getting the 5d probably in the next few months. the lenses i use most are the 10-22 (that one is made specifically for digital cameras that have the crop factor, wont fit a full frame camera) the 50 1.4 (will be getting the 50 1.2 soon!) and the 70-200is 2.8. i shot your entire wedding with those three lenses. the 10-22 is a good PJ lens. i also have the 16-35 2.8 but its not one of my faves. may sell it soon. the only filters i use are UV filters to protect the lenses.
about pp – i do alot in camera raw. then run some actions i like and use a little ps. i use kevin kubota but there are a few other actions out there worth looking at. the boutwells just came out with a KA set. parker phister makes some cool ones and jeff ascough from over in the UK makes some as well. if i knew what “look” you were going for i could probably help you in that area. of course you can make your own set of actions as well.
hth! hey i just sent a little surprise off to annaliese. something in there for her and something for you. hopefully she will forward it on to you and not keep them both for herself – haha!!!
i cant wait to see some of what youre doing over there. do you have a blog yet? im sure some of it you cant share. i look forward to hearing from you. stay safe – leigh

Thanks for all the useful info. I checked out those actions. Really good stuff. I’m using aperture 1.5 right now, but time is valuable, and I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and do some hardcore post production. The actions come in handy and I’ll have to get some of them. Now, as for a blog, not yet. Time is kicking my arce right now. Know of any good places where I can get a nice easy blog and won’t have to do much work on it? Anything is much appreciated. Things are going good over here. Still trying to get settled in. But I’ll be out in the field soon. FYI, I have a blackhawk shoot on a navy fleet coming up soon. I’ll keep you informed. Once, again, thanks for everything. Let’s keep in touch.
