Yesterday was the…

last wedding of the year for me! I can’t believe it.  I felt so honored to shoot Annaliese and David wedding.  David is a photojournalist with the army and is set for deployment at the beginning of the year.  He and Annaliese found me through the Wedding Photojournalist Association.  Weddings by design are emotional days but I could tell this one was a little different.  Despite some adverse conditions – namely the weather – things went off splendidly.  The ceremony and reception were at the California Citrus State Park in Riverside.  Unfortunately it was windy, cold and there was a dust storm blowing so the ceremony had to be moved inside. But both Annaliese and David took things in stride and it was a beautiful wedding nonetheless. Congratulations to you both.  David I can’t wait to see some of your PJ work from Korea.  Take care! Talk to you both soon :)

The beautiful lanterns.

This is my favorite cake from the entire year.  Annaliese’s matron of honor made this! I love the beautiful piping on the chocolate birds.

Annaliese waits patiently in the car.

While David waits patiently for things to get started.

Annaliese and her Dad, the happiest dad in the world.

I love this moment when the groom takes his brides hand for the first time.

Hard to tell here but it was so windy and we were being pelted by these berries about the size of holly berries.  Felt like being shot with a BB gun. But Annaliese and David were troopers :)

All the lovely gals.

You know I love the first dance.

A few laughs during the toasts.

And a very emotional toast to the couple from one of David’s groomsmen.

Cheers!

Annaliese and Dad.

Cake cutting part 1.

And part 2.

There was some serious competition during the bouquet toss.

This cute little guy was waiting to dance with the bride.

And this guy was trying to steal the loot during the money dance.

Thriller zombie bridesmaids.

The man with all the moves.

And they are outta there.

a bad blogger.  It seems this time of year everything gets so busy – personally and professionally that my blogging slips a little. I apologize to my loyal blog readers, especially all of you who are frequently emailing me and praising me for staying on top of my blog :) So stayed tuned for new blog posts – a wedding, engagement session – yes thats you sarah and rudy!, and a few pic from miami.  I hope everyone had a great holiday! I’m officially back in the studio tomorrow but hoping to get some emails answered today.  Be safe everyone and have a great New Year!!! I’m looking forward to a busy and exciting 2007 and within the next few weeks a brand spanking new website :) In the words of our governator – I’ll be back! (anyone want some crackers to go with that cheese?)

from Lavi.  I shot their wedding back in October.  It was the third wedding in a group of friends and that makes it so fun because I already know a lot of people there.  Anyway here’s Lavi’s so sweet email.  When I emailed her back I let her know that should make me Auntie Leigh and they are stuck with me for life if they name their child after me ;) I’m really the one who feels blessed to do what I do!!!

Hey Leigh -

I think John & I need to name our 1st born Leigh!  I STILL talk about you at least once a day be it to friends, family, coworkers & anyone who’s seen our pictures!  We are SO blessed & so grateful that your schedule freed up and you were able to photograph our wedding.  The only thing that makes me feel bad about how cool our pictures are is that some of my married friends who’ve seen our pictures are now unsatisfied with their own wedding pictures (except the Donna & Ben and Ramona & Darren of course)!  Your work brings a smile to so many people & really made our day memorable!  Just wanted to say thanks once again.  In retrospect I really can’t imagine our wedding day without you!  Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.  God bless you and your family. Have a blessed Christmas & a fabulous New Year.

April and Nate for choosing me to shoot their wedding in beautiful Riviera Maya in September.  I am using a photo of April that I took after the ceremony in my current ad with The Knot magazine.  So if you happen to pick one up be sure and take a look in the photographer section.  Talk to you guys soon!

PS – I also want to thank my wonderful graphic designers Sarah and Rudy!  Come back next week and see their engagement pics.  We are shooting them at the San Diego Zoo :)

Nicole and Jeff…

December 3, 2006

thank you guys for being so patient!!! These poor guys have been waiting a while to see the sneak peak of their engagement session.  We shot it right before Thanksgiving so that week was pretty much shot with all kinds of family activities and then wouldn’t you know it, the next week my entire house and studio was a mess due to new floors being installed!  If you’re ever having construction done in your home here’s something they dont tell you - it will ALWAYS take longer than they say :) So thank you both for being so patient.  And here are a few pics from the ES.

I’m so excited and honored to be shooting Nicole and Jeff’s wedding in February!  I have to tell how this came to be.  Back when I was a therapist my office was right next to Nicole’s mom,  Nurse Ronnie.  Ronnie is just the most awesome person and I couldn’t have asked for a better neighbor.  About the time I started really getting into photography Ronnie’s other daughter Christy got engaged and I was lucky enough to shoot their engagement pics.  It was my first engagement session ever.  They already had a wedding photographer but referred another couple to me after the engagement session and that was my second wedding and really kicked off my photography career.  So when Nicole and Jeff got engaged and contacted me, I was thrilled! And of course honored. I can’t wait until the wedding.

And here are Nicole and Jeff.

They chose the beach in Coronado and are getting married in Coronado too.

It was a beautiful day with blue, blue skies.

The Hotel Del always makes a nice backdrop.

Nicole is just so spunky and cute.  And just like her mom she has tons of energy!

There was a family on the beach feeding the birds so they were everywhere!

And got a little aggressive!

This has something to do with nicknames.

And lastly, a pic of Christy and Brian from my first engagement session!
