Well the world is a little more balanced now :) and our family finally has another girl!!! There hasn’t been a girl born into our family in about 20 years!!! That was back when little Joeyanne was born and now she’s off to college at Ole Miss.

To give you an idea I am one of four – with three brothers. I have two cousins one girl – one boy. I have two sons – no girls and until the 26th had one nephew – no nieces. Yea – we got a girl. (please don’t get me wrong, i love boys.) So since my Granny and Dee’s generation we’ve had 4 girls born to the family and 8 boys.

And I finally have a pic of my new niece to post! My brother was a little slow, in my opinion, in getting this out. Lauren was actually due to arrive on December 9th but decided to come a little early and good thing too. My son, Curtis, happened to be visiting my brother in Kansas when Lauren decided to arrive. Curtis made himself useful when Taylor and Angie had to rush off to the hospital at 1:30 AM!!!! (way to go Curtis :) ) When Taylor woke Curtis up in the middle of the night to tell him he was taking Angie to the hospital, Curtis replied WHY??? I will give him a break cause he was sleeping and I’ve been known to say some not so intelligent things when awakened from a deep sleep as well.

Here are the stats from an email I got from my brother last night:
Lauren was born on 11/26/05 at 2:44 a.m. 8 lbs 2 oz; 19 1/2 inches long. Both Angie and Lauren are both outstanding. We just brought her home from the hospital today and the fact that she’s sleeping and I’m able to send this e-mail out tonight is an indication that she’s already MUCH different than Jackson. Our thanks to all who have helped us throughout the pregnancy and in the days that followed her birth; we couldn’t have done it without you!

Lauren and Jackson – binky out, smile on!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

November 24, 2005

Today Ryan and I spent Thanksgiving with our good friends Kye and Joey. This was our second Thanksgiving at their house. We had such a fun afternoon with their friends and family.

The turkey of course! Kye is an amazing cook!

Kye taking a break from cooking. We were lucky to have such a beautiful day!

Kye making the gravy – reflected in the toaster!

Katelin was a little unsure about me taking her picture. But she’s a cutie!

Lovely flowers from the garden.

Don’t ask. But all I have to say is don’t threaten to hold your breath around Joey, cause he’ll make sure you aren’t joking. Don’t worry, Stuart’s OK!

Kye is an amazing pianist. I think Katelin might follow in his footsteps.

And finally back home. Mrs. Jones says Happy Thanksgiving too!

But seriously, this time of year it is nice to reflect on how blessed we are and thankful for all the great friends and family we have, near and far. Have a great Thanksgiving – Leigh

Crysty and Jeff Get Married!

November 20, 2005

And I worked a split shift. Yesterday I was shooting for Mike Tyler of Tyler Studios, a good friend and a great guy! I always like to shoot with Mike ’cause he’s a lot of fun and one of the most technically savvy photographers I know. I feel like everytime I leave a shoot with him I’ve picked up something new :) Thanks Mike.

So since I had to take my kids to the airport, I shot the bride getting ready and some of the reception. It was a lovely, big Filipino wedding – and a blast! Here are some pics from their day.

Chrysty’s dress was just beautiful.

Sometimes getting in the dress can be very complicated!

The lovely Chrysty!

About to leave – cool as a cucumber.

After the ceremony, I’m back to work and Chrysty has a nice new ring!

Some of the lovely details Chrysty and Jeff picked out for the day.

Jeff surprises Chrysty and sings her a love song! It was beautiful.

The first dance. A few of my faves!

When I was about 15 my youngest brother came home from Eisenhower Elementary one November day singing a song he had learned about Thanksgiving. Since Thanksgiving is next week, I thought I’d share it with you!

Ohhhhhhh, the turkey sat on the backyard fence
and he sang a sad, sad song,
Thanksgiving day is coming, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble
and I know I’ll soon be gone.

Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble
I would like to runaway,
Gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble, gobble
I DON’T LIKE THANKSGIVING DAY!!!

Before!

After. Stinks to be a turkey! Interesting song to be teaching a bunch of kindergarteners! Wonder how many skipped the turkey that year??? Obviously I was somewhat traumatized as that song has stayed with me for about 20 years. (if you start adding and trying to figure out how old I am you will automatically be turned in to a turkey, haha!)

While driving home from Jorge and Julianna’s wedding Saturday night the Black Cat hit a milestone and 100,000 miles. The Black Cat is also known as a 1998 Volvo V70R – the R stands for race car – according to the men in my life :) My son Chris named it the Black Cat and especially loves to write “The Black Cat” on the windows when they are dirty – which unfortunately happens to be quite often!!! So here it is ~

before…..

and after!

You maybe wondering about the time. It was really 12:41 am – hadn’t changed the time in the car yet. And I apologize for the motion blur in the second pic. It’s hard to drive in the dark at almost 1 AM and get a good pic of the speedometer! The Black Cat RULES!!!!

…..whom some might call an angel! Last week Linda Sargent and I took a trip up to LA to Kevin Break’s Studio to shoot some pics for her upcoming CD. (We did the in-studio studio pics last week, it’s in the blog too.) Kevin has this amazing studio and we got to work with the nicest make-up artist, Victoria Christian. We had a great time. Even managed to get a little shopping in after the shoot and visited the Cheesecake Factory too! I was lucky enough to meet Linda when I shot her wedding to Cameron in June. Linda might just be my most photographed person, aside from my kids, this entire year! Lucky me. Here are some pics from the day. (Be sure and check out Linda’s site http://www.lindasargent.com/ )

It’s rare that this one, my younger son Chris, slows down long enough for me to grab some shots of him. But today, as luck would have it, his board needed some work and he had to remain in one spot to work on it. I love pics like these, just kids doing what they like to do and capturing their everyday lives. No Sears portrait studio here :)

When will they ever learn! I mean really, mom has a camera and a blog, now you’re in trouble :)

The finished product. And then he was off again. If you can make out the pig on the board apparently that’s really cool! And girls dig it.

a great friend and one of MY favorite photographers Jessica Claire, www.jcsphoto.com I’ve been lucky enough to get to shoot with Jessica quite often over the past few months and it is always a blast. It was even more fun today ’cause Britney, www.britneyphotography.com was with us. And its a good thing too ’cause this was one of my longest wedding days EVER!!! I got up at 4:45 AM, left at 6:00 AM and returned home at 1 AM. Boy was I pooped.

The wedding was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels . I have never seen any place like this. It was so big it had its own parking garage! But so pretty. The bride and groom, Julianna and Jorge, were lovely and great fun (as you will see in the pics below).

I love details!

Julianna having a moment to herself, well almost.

Junior bridesmaids need to look good too.

Some fine tuning by mom and a sister before walking down the aisle.

Hand off!

Kissing in front of the Jessica Claire logo!

What a lovely couple!

Taking off in the Rolls.

First dance as husband and wife. I’m a pushover for first dance shots.
